About Me

Hello World! I am Joe D'Agostino, or Average Joe!

I am a security professional with several years of experience, am passionate about consumer privacy, a lover of all things tech, a coffee addict, have a deep coding background, and am currently learning things in the Data Science space, specifically ML and AI. I am also a husband and a ‘Dog Dad.’

In my spare time enjoy watching movies & TV shows, especially Comedies, Sci-Fi and Comic Book Hero centered ones, playing video games (when there is time), and tinkering with the latest software and scripts. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and dog.

In my career, I have worn many security hats from writing policies, security architecture and engineering, application security, detection and response, threat intelligence, forensics, and beyond. My experience comes from working for companies in the Fortune 50, the Fortune 10, and more recently startups.

The reason I wanted to start putting my thoughts, opinions, and predictions online and on social media was to give the other sides of security that are not ‘hacking’ or pentesting, as well as industry takes from a regular Average Joe.

The content for Average Joe On will have my honest, boots-on-the-ground (or rather hands-on keyboard) view of the security, privacy, and broader technology industry, share security, privacy, and tech news, predictions, and opinions, my experiences, career advice, and teach regular everyday Average Joe’s about security and privacy, from someone actively in the field.
